The early months of the salmon fishing season is a great time of year to be out on the river searching for a spring Salmon. Its not that long now till the season starts again on the 15th January . This picture was taken on the Dunkeld beat a few years ago just as the day started to warm, up in time for a real to start singing !!!

Here is a big autumn river tay salmon caught a few season's ago when we had the extension to our season until the 31st October. This 34lb was caught on the Dunkeld beat by David Ritchie in the last gasp effort just after 5pm. We finally landed this cracker as it was getting dark.
The river Tay Boat, An Ideal platform to cover the river, Spinning, Harling, Or casting a fly the boat gives the angler a chance to cover lies that are just that bit out of range, or sometimes just that slower approach more so in the spring months .

The spring salmon. The best fish of the year, It might be cold in the early months of the season but when one of these silver tanks grabs your fly or lure you soon forget about the cold and it could well be one of the biggest of the season .
The beautiful Dunkeld Beat on the river Tay. This shot was taken a few years ago when i worked on the beat. In the early months of the season the bottom half of the beat was the place to be, just waiting to find those early spring Salmon as they slowly made there way upstream .
